Climb!

I'm finally getting back into rock climbing after a year on the ground. Trying to build up strength again is kicking my ass, but it's got to be done so I can get back out there and actually climb routes! Yesterday was my second day back at it. It's getting better already, but I'm still such a sissy!
Last night at the gym, after a couple of hours of climbing, there was a groovy event that took place. A guy I know, Keith (www.ladzinski.com), was showing some of his pictures (including climbing shots from Africa, Spain, and Ouray). They had free food, beer, wine and raffled off a ton of schwag. I won new climbing shoes! It was awesome to see so many of my climbing buddies again! But the most amazing part was just the photos and the stories behind them. I even had a dream that I was in Africa. It must be time for me to get back outside!

Theatre anyone?

The last play of the semester that I've worked on is in it's last weekend. I was part of the crew that designed and made all the masks and puppets for this show. I have been too damn busy to see it myself, yet. I'm planning on going to see it Friday night at 7:30pm. Call me if you're interested in going. 805-423-1219

CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE
by Bertolt Brecht
An abandoned little child is rescued by a peasant girl during the chaos of war. At the risk of her own life the girl protects the child while embarking on her own harrowing adventure of escape. Finally the child is safe---but then is suddenly claimed by the mother who abandoned him. Who does this child belong to? His birth mother or the woman who has cared for him? Only a foolish judge can decide, and by a curious test of his own devising. This production boasts elaborate masks, puppets, music, song, spectacle and an ensemble cast playing many roles in Brecht’s famous “epic” theatre.

In the BON VIVANT THEATRE at Union & Austin Bluffs
Wednesday- Saturday @ 7:30
Saturday Matinee @ 2
Tickets only $10, UCCS STUDENTS FREE!

I hate NMR

ARGH! I have spent the past 3 hours fighting with data analysis equipment. Samples have been spilled or contaminated. The solids aren't going into solution like they should. The C13 - NMR isn't giving me any data. Wheee. I really do like chemistry, but today I think I'd rather be anywhere else. The only thing stopping me from taking a baseball bat to this instrument is the hundreds of thousands of dollars I don't have to replace it.... that and I don't have a bat with me.

Colorado Weather

I love this place. Sunday was sunny and warm. There was a ton of wind through the Gorge, but not enough to make it a cold day on the river. This I go for my run in Garden of the Gods and am greeted with snow, hail and rain. Mmmm, good stuff. I still got in a decent, if short, run. Off to class!

Hash The Planet!

I need a vacation. Any suggestions for the best places to visit that include an awesome hash?

Some pictures from the hash on Saturday

Where Brownie? Coming in last for the first beer check?

Nice legs. Swallows It Whole and NHW.

She's even got hash marks on her legs.

For the love of the river...

Pine Creek Hole on the Arkansas River

Tunnel Falls - Gore Canyon on the Colorado River.

9 day trip through Cataract Canyon on the Colorado River

Sunshine Falls - Royal Gorge Race 2005

I got a call from a fellow river rat recently and it really made me crave some good river running. This season I want to take hashers out with me. Are any of you interested? I can get everyone a really good deal on it...

I should be more clear. The first two pictures are Class V & Class V+ rapids. We generally don't take customers or other non-experienced people on that kind of water. We only select paddlers from within out guide programs for those. The rafting trip I want to take hashers on is through the Royal Gorge. I'm not trying to kill anyone off. Although, rafting could be a convenient way to do so.

What was I thinking?

So I guess I'll give this thing a try. It's not like I don't have enough things to waste my time with, so what's one more?
